It I generally given for mass treatment of some disease.WHO recommended Mass therapy is not indicated for Scabies.Scabies can be prevented by taking precautionary measure such as avoid contact with patients, maintain personal hygiene and regular washing of clothing.Patients of scabies are treated with Ivermectin or permethrin. However, the administration of these drugs is not practiced as mass therapy.Mass drug administration for neglected diseases gained particular prominence in the 1990s.Diseases such as Onchocerciasis, lymphatic filariasis, trachoma, Schistosomiasis, and soil-transmitted helminthes are amenable to mass treatment and control as a result of the availability of safe and affordable drugs.Vitamin A prophylaxis is a program by MoHFW for providing specific protection for Vit A as cause of blindness in a specified category of 6 months to 59 months if age group children in India.
