Which of the following is an indication for restriction fragment length polymorphism?

Correct Answer: Analysis of chromosome structures
Description: Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP): The human genome contains hundreds of variations in base sequences that do not affect the phenotype. The propey of the molecules to exist in more than one form is known as polymorphism. A polymorphic gene is one, in which the variant allele are common in more than 1% of the total population. The existence of two or more types of restriction fragment patterns is called restriction fragment length polymorphism. Mutation in the coding sequence (exons) lead to defective protein synthesis. But mutation in noncoding sequences (introns) have no phenotypical expression; still there will be detectable difference in the RPLF pattern. This can be used as genetic maker.
