In this, ovary is refractory to normal levels of pituitary gonadotropins, the follicles ripen but do not rupture and the endometrium become hyperplastic under persistent oestrogenic stimulation. Patient develop heavy painless hemorrhage after a variable duration of amenorrhea when the exuberant endometrium is shed as relative estrogen deficiency occur.
