Description: Although in a case of iridocyclitis, patient's eye is erythematous and cells are present in the anterior chamber, antibiotics are not indicated. The goals of pharmacotherapy are to reduce pain and inflammation through the use of cycloplegics and coicosteroids. To immobilize the iris and decrease pain, one may find tropane alkaloids effective, paicularly scopolamine and atropine. Atropine is the most impoant topical drug of choice for the management of a case of acute iridocyclitis. Topical steroids may be used to decrease inflammation, paicularly prednisolone and dexamethasone.
