Description: Thyroid palpation- methods Lahey's method- In this method,the examination of the thyroid is performed from the front.Normal lobe of thyroid is pushed to the side of nodule so that solitary nodule can be made prominent and palpated well. KOCHER'S TEST : Slight compression of the lateral lobe of thyroid gland produces stridor. If the test is positive , it signifies that the patient has an obstructed trachea. Fore finger of examiner should palpate each thyroid lobe. Pizillo's method - Fingers are clasped against occiput - Makes inspection of thyroid easier Crile method In this method,place thumb on thyroid gland and ask the patient to swallow. For palpation of smaller nodules within the thyroid gland this test is performed.
