Correct Answer: ad
Description: Most fractures of the clavicle are caused by a fall onto the shoulder; occasionally a fall onto the outstretched hand is responsible. The most common site is at the junction of the middle third and outer third (junction of medial 2/3rd and outer 1/3 rd). Less often a fracture occurs near lateral end of clavicle. Bone usually breaks into two fragments. Communities is extremely rare. Clavicle fracture is usually displaced. Outer fragment is pulled downward and medially due to gravity and pull from pectoralis major while the medial fragment is pulled upward by strenocleidomastoid. Therefore, malunion is common.
