Description: Cerebral Malaria is the severe form of falciparum malaria. Prognosis usually poor, dispite of treatment, mortality is —15% in children and -20% among adults. Convulsion, coma, hypoglycemia, metabolic acidosis and severe anaemia are relatively common in children in severe malaria where as deep Jaundice, ARF, pulmonary edema are unusual. Treatment of choice is quinine, though quinidine is as effective as quinine but require cardiovascular monitoring.
