The metabolic functions of insulin include all of the following except:

Correct Answer: Increase lipoprotein lipase activity
Description: Insulin is secreted from the beta cells of the pancreas.  It lowers the blood glucose levels.  It stimulates glucose transport into muscle and adipose tissue. It stimulates the activity of glycogen synthase thus it promotes glycogen storage in the liver. It inhibits hepatic glucose production by decreasing glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis.  It also inhibits lipoprotein lipase thus decreases hydrolysis of triglycerides in the adipose tissue.
