Both are complications of acute pancreatitis A pancreatic abscess is a circumscribed intrabdominal collection of pus, usually in proximity to pancreas, which contains little or no necrotic tissue. An infected pseudocyst is also considered as pancreatic abscess. Pancreatic and peripancreatic necrosis - these are areas of nonble pancreatic or peripancreatic tissue that may be either sterile on infected. An infected pancreatic necrosis is managed by laparotomy and surgical debridement of the necrotic tissue. Whereas pancreatic abscess are t/t by external drainage.
