Description: Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia can present with progressive dyspnoea,dry cough & fever.Chest X ray shows bilateral interstitial infiltrate spreading out from hilar region.High resolution CT is more sensitive,showing typical 'ground-glass 'interstitial infiltrates.Pneumatocoeles can occur and may rupture,resulting in a pneumothorax.Treatment is with high dose co-trimoxazole,together with adjunctive steroids.
