Description: Antenatal steroids(or antenatal coicosteroids) are medications given to pregnant women expecting preterm delivery. Steroids do not appear to increase the number of women who develop infection of the fetal membranes (chorioamnionitis) or of the womb (endometritis). A single course of betamethasone is recommended for pregnant women between 34 0/7 weeks and 36 6/7 weeks of gestation at risk of preterm bih within 7 days, and who have not received a previous course of antenatal coicosteroids.
