In adults ochronosis, i.e. Alkaptone body deposited in intervertebral disk, cartilage of nose, pinna, etc. leading to pigmentation. Arthritis  No mental retardation Laboratory Diagnosis: Alkalanization increase darkening of urine. Benedict's test positive in urine because homogentisic acid is reducing agent.
