Description: About 30% of children with Autism function in the intellectually disabled range. Among them, 30% are in mild to moderate range and about 45 to 50% are in severly to profound range. Children with Autism have been observed to have a higher incidence of abnormal dermatographics (fingerprints) than those in the general population. This finding might suggest a disturbance in neuro ectodermal development. Ref: Synopsis of Psychiatry, 11e, pg 1156, 1157.
