Three lesions are encountered: (1) glo- merular lesions; (2) renal vascular lesions, principally aeriolosclerosis; and (3) pyelonephritis, including nec- rotizing papillitis. The most impoant glomerular lesions are capillary basement membrane thickening, diffuse mesangial sclerosis, and nodular glomerulosclerosis.
