Description: The patient in question has presented with galactorrhea and amenorrhea, which is invariably due to increased prolactin levels. Causes of hyperprolactinemia are Pregnancy and lactation Drugs: dopamine antagonists, MAO inhibitors, cimetidine etc Pituitary tumours Hypothyroidism Renal and hepatic disorders Now since the patient also has presented with weight loss, it points towards a pituitary tumor Hypothyroidism can cause amenorrhea but it is usually associated with weight gain. Anorexia nervosa is psychogenic weight loss and may present with amenorrhea. However, pituitary tumors and craniopharyngiomas can cause increase in PRL and consequent galactorrhea with amenorrhea and the weight loss is attributed then to the malignant process.
