Description: Drugs used in the treatment of postpaum hemorrhage are oxytocin, methylergonovine, misoprostol and carboprost. Primary postpaum hemorrhage occurs with 24 hours of delivery and secondary PPH occur after first 24 hours and up to 6 weeks postpaum. Initial treatment of PPH includes aggressive fluid resuscitation, identification and treatment of the underlying cause. In severe hemorrhage, blood transfusion may be needed.
