Oocyte is retrieved by vaginal needle aspiration 36 hours after HCG administration. 50000 to 100000 sperms are placed in culture media containing oocyte within 4-6 hours of retrieval. They are examined after 12-24 hours and if they show presence of 2nd polar body, feilization has occurred. The feilized ova at 4-8 cell stage is placed into the uterine cavity close to fundus. Not more than three embryos are transferred per cycle.
